If you were truly interested you could see positive things occurring daily as a result of the Occupy movement. Even if all we accomplish is finally starting a conversation that is? way overdue, that is a start. (for nyc14gauge) I am not familiar with SEIU. And though I’m sure you don’t care or wouldn’t believe, I graduated from one of the highest rated schools in the US and am an excellent RN.

I protested on N17 PDX. I am not an anarchist, drug addict or sex offender. I am an RN without a million $ in my back pocket to lobby with. Until our corrupt system is fixed I will continue peacefully protesting. Disagreeing with the movement is your choice, but don’t label OP as homeless jobless lazy street anarchists. Rather, join the conversation & share your? ideas. As for the police presence, PPD’s decision to cease occupying the Occupy movement post N17 says it all.

Hundreds of people marching down the street is a big safety risk? for everyone else and like we have seen from other protests (around the country) they can get violent quick. Also because you have the right to protest dose not mean you have the right to stop traffic and every one else downtown from getting things done.
“I felt offended by the police showing up in force” uh yeah, what do you think they should do when? they show up to a large crowd full of anarchists, drug addicts, sex offenders, and then the regular citizens who are there to watch the protest, or participate? The police are there to be a deterrent from crime happening, that is the point of them showing up like they did to the large crowds of people.
